Dodgeville Library Going Forward

By only a few dozen votes, the city of Dodgeville will be moving forward with a new library project. The referendum issue passed Tuesday on a 478 – 441 vote. As part of the referendum, the new public library can’t exceed costs of $7-million dollars. Those who support the plan say the community has outgrown the current library space, which was built 32 years ago. That facility is about 67-hundred square feet – while a 2014 report says a city the size of Dodgeville should have a library roughly three times that size. The Dodgeville City Council will next have to vote on giving final approval to a new public library plan.
