Your pet will get to join you at most parks around Dubuque by the middle of this year. The Dubuque City Council has voted to update an ordinance on leashed pets in city parks. Two areas – Eagle Point and Murphy parks – are not changing under the new rule and will remain off limits to pets. Dubuque’s Parks and Recreation Commission had recommended pets be allowed in most city parks. These updates take effect on July 1st. Service animals – used by a person with disabilities – are allowed in public spaces and aren’t subject to the ordinance.
