Grant County officials on Wednesday have confirmed that 11 residents and six employees of Orchard Manor Nursing Home have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Grant County Emergency Management Director Steve Braun attributes the spike to an increase in the supply of testing kits. Testing and screening have led to the cases being identified. The 17 cases at Orchard manor make up a large portion of the 26 confirmed cases in Grant County. Infected residents at Orchard Manor are being treated in a quarantined part of the facility, which has been converted into a “negative-pressure” wing, equipped with a special ventilation system to prevent the airborne spread of the virus. Employees who tested positive for COVID-19 are recovering at the home. Braun said additional testing at the facility is being conducted to ensure that all infected residents are identified.
