Kayaker Taken To Hospital After Capsizing

One person was taken to Southwest Health Center in Platteville for treatment of non-life threatening injuries after needing assistance while kayaking on the Mississippi River. The Potosi Fire Department and EMS were paged at about 6pm Sunday night to an area about one mile north of Potosi Point Recreation area for a person who capsized his kayak and was unable to get back in it. A friend of the person in the water called 911 for help. The Potosi Fire Department responded with two boats and were able to get the person out the the water and back to the landing. The Cassville Fire Department and Wisconsin DNR helped at the scene.
