Wisconsin’s unemployment rate jumped to 14.1-percent in April due to COVID-19 layoffs and business shutdowns. The jobless rate had been 3.1-percent in March before the coronavirus pandemic hit. Department of Workforce Development officials say data shows Wisconsin lost 439-thousand non-farm and 386-thousand private-sector jobs from March to April. Last month was the first full month of Governor Evers’ Safer at Home order.
