Missing Person in Mississippi River

Emergency crews are continuing the search for a missing person who was last seen early Sunday about 10 miles north of Prairie du Chien. A report from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office says a group had been camping at an island near Gordon’s Bay along the Mississippi River. One member of the group attempted to swim from shore to the campsite. The group called authorities around 3am Sunday regarding the missing person. Multiple police, fire, and emergency crews were called to the scene and searched the area by land, water and air on Sunday. Officials with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department say this case is still an active and ongoing investigation.
