Two of the Platteville School District’s four buildings will begin the year a few days later this fall. Westview Elementary and the Platteville High School now have a start date of September 3; while Neal Wilkins and the Middle School will hold their first day of classes on August 31. Platteville Superintendent Jim Boebel said at a special board meeting Thursday night that the reason for this change is related to COVID-19.
“We currently have a cluster of employees who are quarantined through the beginning of the school year. That has forced the (Platteville School District’s) Leadership Team to consider adjustments,” said Boebel.
The motion approved by the Platteville School Board does not change the district’s instructional plans regarding in-person or virtual classes.
