There’s a push being made by a group in Dubuque to repeal the city’s mask mandate. More than 550 people have signed on to a petition that is asking the Dubuque City Council to reverse course on its action from last month. The petition was submitted to the city by an organization known as UnMask DBQ. In the request, the group says a mask mandate for Dubuque is unlawful. Some members have raised questions about the effectiveness of masks against the spread of COVID-19, as well as infringements on civil liberties. City officials continue to support having the mask mandate – citing research from multiple health agencies.
