WHAT WE’RE TRACKING:
We are tracking some potential for patchy fog this morning and some rain or snow showers this afternoon and evening (even some freezing drizzle). We are tracking a bigger weather system for Monday and Tuesday, with rain as the main precipitation type.
PLANNING YOUR NEXT 24 HOURS:
After some morning fog, temperatures will climb into the middle to upper 30s this afternoon under mostly cloudy skies. Some light rain or snow showers will move into the area this afternoon, lingering through the evening hours. As temperatures fall to near freezing this evening, some freezing drizzle may mix, especially north of Madison. In addition, some slick spots are possible on area roads as surface temperatures fall just below freezing overnight. Temperatures will climb into the low 40s tomorrow under mostly cloudy skies.
EXTENDED FORECAST:
A much stronger system will impact the area Monday, bringing rain and even some thunderstorms to the area through Tuesday. Although precipitation may turn to snow on Tuesday before ending, no significant snow accumulation is expected at this time. As the system lifts to the northeast of the area, snow showers will spread into the area Tuesday night and linger through Wednesday. Dry conditions return on Thursday, with the next chance for snow coming by the weekend. As for temperatures, they might hit 50 degrees late Monday or early Tuesday before crashing on Tuesday. Otherwise, more seasonable temperatures after Tuesday.
