One person taken to hospital after their car submerged under water at the Warner Park Boat Launch

With the vehicle appearing to take on water at a rapid pace, they entered the water on foot and swam out to the car which was almost completely submerged. A firefighter reached in to grab the person who was unresponsive.

Together with the lieutenant, the firefighter was able to pull the person from the car and swim them back to the dock. The crew immediately began CPR and a medical team arrived on the scene shortly after to provide advanced life support.

The MFD Lake Rescue Team searched the vehicle for additional occupants in a boat, performing an underwater search of the vehicle. They confirmed no other occupants were inside.

Lifesaving efforts continued on the way to the hospital. The patient regained a pulse prior to arrival at the ER.

Schmidt’s Towing retrieve the vehicle from the water. Madison Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
