MADISON, Wis. — A Milwaukee man was sentenced Wednesday to 33 months in prison for possessing crack cocaine for distribution.
According to a news release, Derek Evans, 42, was sentenced for possessing 28 grams or more of crack cocaine with intent to distribute. The release said Evans’ prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release.
Officials said Evans was arrested by the Dane County Narcotics Task Force in February after he sold crack cocaine to an undercover agent and a confidential informant. Evans reportedly had about 60 grams of crack cocaine in his pants at the time of his arrest.
The judge said Wednesday that the amount of crack cocaine on Evans was “not consistent with one-time distribution, and instead reflected that he was exploiting the addiction of others,” according to the release.
