MADISON, Wis. — With the coronavirus continuing to surge in Dane County and Wisconsin as a whole, UW Health has opened a new COVID-19 unit on Madison’s east side.
A UW Health spokesperson told News 3 Now the unit at The American Center opened Monday and had its first patients the following day.
The health system said the American Family Children’s Hospital is not expanding to house COVID-19 patients, but will instead admit adult patients to create more space at University Hospital.
