WAUWATOSA, Wis. — Wauwatosa police announced on Sunday that they have arrested a suspect in connection to the shooting at Mayfair Mall that left eight people injured.
The Wauwatosa Police Chief identified the suspect as a 15-year-old male.
Police searched for a suspect after the shooter left the scene after the shooting on Friday, officials said. A Facebook post from the police department posted on Friday night said that the shooting likely came after an altercation, and was believed to not be a random act.
Officials said that seven adults and one teen were injured and hospitalized after the shooting. Wauwatosa Police Chief Barry Weber said in an update on Friday evening that the extent of their injuries were unknown, but all were alive.
Officers initially responded around 2:50 p.m. Friday for a report of a shooting near the northwest entrance of the mall. Police said the Mayfair Mall has since been secured.
