An Alert Day is in the forecast for moderate to heavy snow moving through southern Wisconsin this morning. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until noon today.

The snow is very wet and heavy and will make untreated roads slushy and slippery. In addition, visibility will be reduced to less than one mile at times. The snow will continue through the morning, but change to snow around noon. Total accumulations will range from 1-4″ with the heaviest totals northwest of Madison.

Scattered rain showers are expected through the afternoon and evening as temperatures climb to near 40 degrees. Low temperatures will stay above freezing tonight so any precipitation will be in the form of rain. Areas of fog may develop overnight as well.

More rain is in the forecast for Wednesday, but dry weather will return for Thanksgiving.
