OAKLAND, Wis. — Authorities believe weather played a role in a fatal crash that took place Tuesday morning in Jefferson County.
The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on Highway 12, near Oestreich Lane, in the town of Oakland, according to a release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said a vehicle was headed westbound on Highway 12 when it lost control and crossed over the center line into opposing traffic. The westbound vehicle slide into a nearby ditch after being hit by an eastbound vehicle.
The passenger of the westbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. Both drivers involved were taken to local hospitals.
Vehicle and weather conditions were a factor in the crash, deputies said.
Authorities have not released any other information about the person killed in the crash.
