PORTAGE, Wis. — A Columbus contractor has been charged with felony theft of Wisconsin withholding taxes.
Wisconsin’s DOR requires employers to deduct Wisconsin income taxes from employees’ wages, hold the money in trust then deposit the taxes to the DOR.
According to a criminal complaint, 59-year-old Norman Vick Jr. failed to submit more than $103,520 in taxes to the DOR between 2005 and 2014. The taxes were withheld from 57 employees’ paychecks. Vick owns Norm Vick Construction.
If convicted, Vick faces a maximum punishment of seven years and six months in prison with five years of extended supervision and a $25,000 fine.
The charge against Vick was filed in Columbia County Circuit Court following an investigation by the DOR’s Office of Criminal Investigation.
