MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are searching for a pair of thieves who drove around an east side neighborhood and stole packages off porches earlier in the month.
An incident report said two people stole items in the 400 block of North Star Drive on Nov. 17. The items were placed in the back of a blue older model pickup truck.
Surveillance photos show one of the thieves was wearing a winter hat, black jacket, light pink pants, dark pink shoes and a bandana covering their face.
Those with information on the people involved or the location of their truck are encouraged to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
Madison police suggested a number of ways to protect your packages from porch pirates:
- Have your packages held at your local carrier facility for pickup
- Take advantage of “Ship To Store” for curbside pickup or Amazon’s “Locker” feature
- Request that your package has a signature confirmation upon delivery
- Ask your carrier to place packages in an area out of plain view
- Have packages delivered to your work
- Schedule delivery for times you will be home
- Have packages delivered to a neighbor who is home
- Monitor your front porch (Xfinity Home, Ring doorbell, Nest and others)
