BELOIT, Wis. – Reconstruction work is ongoing at the I-39/90 and I-43/WIS 81 interchange in Beloit. Two miles of I-39/90 southbound will be closed overnight between the County S/Shopiere Road interchange (Exit 183) and the I-43/WIS 81 interchange (Exit 185) in southern Rock County.
Southbound Interstate traffic will be detoured from 7 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 1) to 5 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 2). Traffic on I-39/90 northbound will not be impacted.
Southbound drivers will exit the Interstate at the County S/Shopiere Road interchange and follow Shopiere Road south to the Hart Road intersection. Traffic will turn left onto Hart Road connecting to I-43. Motorists will then take I-43 southbound to the I-39/90 interchange to re-enter I-39/90 southbound via the entrance loop ramp. See attached detour route map. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, obey the posted speed limits, eliminate distractions, and don’t tailgate in work zones.
The overnight closure is required as crews set girders – for the new I-39/90 southbound flyover ramp to I-43 northbound – above the Interstate’s southbound lanes.
