MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are investigating after a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle on the city’s east side Sunday morning.
A witness told police he noticed a grinding sound coming from underneath an SUV parked outside of his apartment complex. The man lives along the 800 block of N. Thompson Dr.
The witness reported seeing a man under the vehicle and another standing nearby acting like a lookout, according to a release by MPD. The man under the vehicle was holding a power tool and a car part, the release said.
The witness told police the men drove away in a gray vehicle which appeared to have a Minnesota license plate.
Around the same time, police received a call from a woman living on Bob-O-Link Lane who stopped someone attempting to steal a catalytic converter from her car.
Police said each witness described the same getaway car.
