MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man is accused of hitting three vehicles while driving intoxicated on the city’s north side.
Officers spotted someone speeding along the 3100 block of North Sherman Ave. around 8 p.m. Sunday night, according to a release from the Madison Police Department. The driver was going around 55 mph in a 30 mph zone.
Officers said the driver ran a red light and was heading east in the westbound lanes of Northport Dr. The officers reported hearing the sound of cars crashing and watched a traffic light fall into the road, the release said.
Police said Ricardo E. Medina, 32, of Madison, drove head-on into three occupied cars. No one was seriously injured, but the vehicles sustained significant damage.
Police said Medina was cited for second-offense operating while intoxicated, failure to control a vehicle and failure to obey a red light signal.
