MADISON, Wis. — Police spotted a stolen Lexus driving roughly 120 mph on the Beltline near Broadway early Monday morning.
A Madison police officer said the driver of the stolen vehicle blacked out the vehicle’s lights. The officer ran the vehicle’s plates and found its owner lives on Waban Hill.
When police responded to the owner’s home, he found that the garage door was open, according to an incident report. Upon contacting the owner, the officer learned that the owner had parked the Lexus in the driveway overnight.
Police said the burglar likely got into the car, used a garage door opener to get into the garage then entered the home through an unlocked door where they were able to find the keys.
The vehicle was last seen on Rimrock Road, according to the report.
