MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Roller Derby’s 2021 game season has officially been canceled due to coronavirus concerns, according to a news release Tuesday.
The league canceled its seventeenth season of games, along with all practices and in-person events. Games are normally held January through May at the Alliant Energy Center.
The all-volunteer and grassroots organization has mostly been on hiatus since March, but members have met virtually to assess future plans.
“MRD takes its role as a responsible community member seriously and wants to do everything in our power to ensure the health and safety of our members, our fans, and our community at large,” the league said in a statement.
Those who would like to support the Madison Roller Derby during the pandemic can make a donation. Donations are tax deductible.
