MADISON, Wis. — Madison police recovered an elderly man’s stolen car after his keys were taken from him at a gas station last week.
According to the incident report, the robbery happened early Thursday morning at the Mobil gas station on 2601 Shopko Dr.
Officials said the 82-year-old Madison man was standing in front of a urinal when the robber approached him from behind and stole the keys from his pocket. The man tried to get his keys back but let go after he said the person appeared to get ready to punch him.
Police said the robber left the gas station and took off in the car, which was later found parked and unoccupied in the 700 block of East Mifflin Street.
The Cadillac DeVille was recovered Tuesday morning. A Madison police detective is working to identify a suspect.
