SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Two cities have declared winter weather emergencies as snow continues to fall in southern Wisconsin.
Sun Prairie declared a snow emergency that went into effect at 3 p.m. Friday and will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday. Drivers should avoid parking on city streets until the end of the snow emergency.
Any drivers in violation of the ordinance can be ticketed $50 and may be towed.
Janesville declared a winter weather emergency that will go into effect at 10 a.m. Saturday.
On-street parking is not allowed until snow and ice control operations are done, according to the city’s website. Officials said drivers can best avoid getting a parking ticket by moving their vehicles off the street before the winter weather emergency goes into effect.
More information about Janesville’s winter weather emergency is available on the city’s website.
