MADISON, Wis. — As the end of the year approaches, Wisconsin continues to see a downward trend in confirmed COVID-19 cases.
State and county health officials recorded 2,146* new cases of the virus Wednesday, a significant decline compared to Tuesday’s numbers. The seven-day average of new cases per day has also dropped to 3,247.
Wisconsin’s all time total has reached 445,170* confirmed cases, with less than 10% of those cases still active.
The seven-day positivity rate for new tests by person has remained the same at 27.5%, while the seven-day equivalent for total tests by day went up slightly to 10.7%.

UW Health and SSM Health both received the COVID-19 vaccine for its staff earlier in the week. As of Wednesday, nearly 200 health care workers in Wisconsin have been vaccinated for the virus.
Health officials said 77 more people have died of coronavirus complications, including 20 new deaths in Dane County. The statewide death toll has increased to 4,308*.
An additional 146 were hospitalized, according to the state Department of Health Services. With 11,103 hospital beds in the state, 16% remain available for new patients.
