JANESVILLE, Wis. — Janesville police are searching for a man and woman in connection with an armed robbery Saturday night, officials said.
A news release said a man and woman walked into a store on 1002 S. Jackson St. shortly after 8:20 p.m. Police said the man walked behind the counter and took out a handgun in front of the clerk. According to the report, he used the weapon to strike the clerk in the head.
The pair left the store with an unknown amount of cash as well as the clerk’s cell phone. Officials said the clerk was taken to a hospital for injuries suffered in the robbery and has since been released.
The man who struck the clerk has been described as a heavy set Black man who is roughly 30 years old and has short hair or is possibly bald. Surveillance footage shows he was last seen wearing a red “psycho bunny” hat, according to police. The woman has been described as mixed race and between the ages of 20 and 25. She also has orange-colored fringes and two nose piercings.
Police said the two might have left the scene in a small gray or silver SUV and possibly went west on Delavan Drive toward Center Avenue.
