MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Tony Evers is calling for a special election to fill the state senate seat being vacated by U.S. Representative-elect Scott Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald was elected to the United States House of Representatives and intends to resign from his state seat on Jan. 1, 2021.
Gov. Evers signed an executive order Tuesday calling for a special election to fill the 13th Senate District seat.
The election will be held on April 6, which coincides with the statewide 2021 spring election. If a primary is necessary, it will be held on Feb. 16.
