MADISON, Wis. — The number of new COVID-19 cases, as well as the number of people tested, was relatively low between Christmas Day and Saturday.
According to the Department of Health Services, 5,893 people were tested on Christmas Day. 10.7% of those tests came back as positive, a fall from the seven day average of 24%, likely attributable to the fewer number of overall tests.

Saturday is News 3 Now’s fewest number of cases since Sept. 7, when the reported new number was 596.
No new deaths* were reported. There have been a total of 4,762 deaths in the state so far.
31 more people were hospitalized between Friday and Saturday, DHS said. A total of 4.4% of people in the state with COVID-19 have required hospitalizations.
DHS said 433,415 people, or 92.5%, in Wisconsin have recovered from COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
