MADISON, Wis. — Madison Streets Division crews have started plowing residential streets following an overnight snowstorm.
Crews began their citywide plowing operation at 7 a.m. and expect the entire process to take 12 to 16 hours. Drivers are asked to choose off-street parking, follow parking rules and keep other obstructions out of the road to help ease plowing efforts.
Between Madison’s fleet, which includes Streets, Parks and Engineering divisions, and heavy equipment contractors, roughly 150 pieces of plowing equipment will be involved in the city’s plowing efforts.
Drivers should expect slippery residential roads throughout the day, according to city officials. Those who do decide to drive today are asked to be slow, patient and alert. Drivers should also allow for plenty of travel time and plenty of space when stopping.
If drivers encounter snow plows while driving, they should give the vehicles space as they clear the streets.
