MADISON, Wis. — The City of Madison has declared a snow emergency in response to Tuesday night’s snow storm and in anticipation of a winter storm expected on Friday.
Alternate side parking rules go into effect Wednesday night and will remain in place through Thursday morning. Off-street parking is encouraged.
Residents who must park on the street must park on the side of the street with odd numbered houses between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m.
Anyone in violation of alternate side parking rules may face a $60 fine and have their vehicle towed.
Crews began plowing residential roads Wednesday morning after Tuesday night’s storm. The operation is expected to last 12 to 16 hours.
Parking in city ramps is free from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. during declared snow emergencies. If parking in one of the ramps overnight, avoid parking on the top level so the area can be cleared.
