An Alert Day is in the forecast for Friday. A storm system will move from Texas to the Great Lakes, bringing snow and possibly a mix of precipitation to southern Wisconsin.

The snow will spread into southern Wisconsin on Friday morning. As temperatures climb to the lower 30s, the snow may mix with freezing rain at times during the afternoon. Areas southeast of Madison will have the best chance for freezing rain or mixed precipitation. Some light ice accumulations will be possible.

The snow will come to an end Friday night with a couple of inches of snow accumulation possible. Highest amounts will be along the WI/IL state line.

There is still some uncertainty with this forecast. The exact path of the storm may shift which will impact the type and amount of precipitation in southern Wisconsin. If you plan to travel on Friday, keep a close eye on the forecast. News 3 Now meteorologists will update the forecast as this storm approaches.
Quiet weather is expected for much of next week. Temperatures are expected to stay at or a little above normal for this time of the year.
