An Alert Day is in the forecast for Friday. Light snow will impact travel in southcentral and southeastern Wisconsin Friday afternoon and evening.
Latest forecast models are shifting the storm track a bit further to the south. This will put southern Wisconsin on the northern fringes of this storm. The southerly shift in the storm track means that areas northwest of Dane county may stay dry.

This will be a short duration event. Light snow will lift north out of Illinois early Friday afternoon. The snow will spread northward throughout the afternoon and continue through the evening before tapering to flurries and ending Friday night.

Snow totals will be light, with Dane county and areas to the south and east picking up 1-3″ of new snow. Temperatures may stay a bit warmer close to Lake Michigan thanks to an easterly wind off of the lake. In those locations, there is still a small chance for freezing rain to mix with the snow.
Quiet weather will return for the weekend and the start of next week. No arctic air behind this system so temperatures will remain a bit above normal for this time of the year.
