WEST BARABOO, Wis. — The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Baraboo man accused of drunk driving on New Year’s Eve.
Dispatchers received a report of a one-vehicle crash on Highway 136 at Highway 12 in the village of West Baraboo at about 6:15 p.m. According to a news release, the caller told officials a vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a fence.
Deputies arrived to the scene and found 34-year-old Jonathon Welsh. The release said officials made contact with the man and noticed signs of impairment.
An initial investigation revealed Welsh was also involved in an alleged disturbance in the city of Baraboo leading up to the crash.
Authorities said he failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for a 3rd-offense OWI. Welsh also has other charges from the Baraboo Police Department in connection with the disturbance.
