ST. MARIE TOWNSHIP, Wis. — The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a woman’s death after she was recovered in the Fox River.
The 35-year-old woman was reportedly painting with her two dogs near the river when she went missing. Her hat found on the ice at the edge of the river.
Emergency crews used a hovercraft, drone, rescue boats, ATV’s and divers to search for her. She was found deceased in the river downstream about 3/4 mile from where the incident began.
One of the dogs was rescued. The other was not recovered.
Units from Princeton, Berlin, Green lake and Markesan aided in the search.
