TOWN OF SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people found dead at a home in the 4600 block of Pierceville Road last week.
Police initially responded to the scene for a death investigation around 3:22 p.m. on Dec. 28. According to the medical examiner’s office, the incident is now being investigated as a homicide.
According to local officials, 44-year-old Jessica L. Ewers died after being shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect in Ewers’ killing, 45-year-old James T. Budworth, was also pronounced dead at the scene. The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office said Budworth died of an “apparent self-inflicted firearm injury.”
Both Ewers’ and Budworth’s deaths are still under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
