CALAMUS, Wis. — A 17-year-old died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 73 earlier in the day.
According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the 17-year-old was traveling southbound on Highway 73 when their vehicle spun and crossed the centerline of the roadway. At the same time, a driver was traveling northbound on the highway in a truck. The two vehicles collided when the 17-year-old’s vehicle crossed the center line.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the 17-year-old to UW Hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later. The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the Dodge County Medical Examiner are still investigating the crash. The DCSO was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Columbus Fire Department, DCERT, LifeStar and Randolph emergency medical services.
The roadway was closed for roughly four hours as the crash was cleared and investigated.
