MADISON, Wis. –The William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison is now vaccinating veterans at high risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
Emanuel Voeltz, 81, was first in line. The veteran has volunteered at the hospital for the past six years.
He said he’s honored to get the shot so he can continue to care for patients and pay it forward.
“I look at it as the beginning of a new life,” Voeltz said.
The hospital received its first shipment of the vaccine Dec. 23 and started by administering the shot to frontline staff.
