PORTAGE, Wis. — A 71-year-old man was struck by a delivery truck in Portage while crossing the street Thursday morning.
A news release said Portage police responded to County Highway CX near the Kwik Trip on New Pinery Road regarding an accident involving a truck and pedestrian.
Officials said the vehicle was parked on the highway when Dennis Mouser of Wellington, Ohio, walked from the convenience store to cross the street and fell in front of the delivery truck.
The release said the driver was unaware Mouser had fallen down and drove away from the parked position, striking the man.
The victim was later taken to UW Hospital for serious injuries.
