MADISON, Wis. — Windows at the Wisconsin State Capitol are being boarded up Monday as a precaution after continued threats against capitol buildings across the country.
Crews were seen putting boards back up over the state capitol’s ground-level windows on Monday morning. It comes as the FBI reportedly is warning of possible armed protests at all 50 state capitols in the coming days leading up to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.
The Department of Administration sent out an email to staff on Monday morning, calling the move a “proactive precautionary measure” that is happening at statehouse around the country.
DOA officials said they are not able to go into specifics about current or law enforcement security measures due to the safety and security of Capitol Police and the public. The DOA also avoids commenting on potential threats due to this as well.
Earlier Monday, the National Parks Service also shut down the Washington Monument following similar threats there.
The FBI is continuing to investigate the armed attack at the U.S. Capitol last week and has made several arrests, but is continuing to ask for the public’s help in identifying the people involved.
