MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Fire Department extinguished a fire at an east side hotel Sunday night.
An incident report said guests at the Rodeway Inn & Suites on the 4800 block of Hayes Road reported a power outage at around 9:45 p.m. Security personnel brought firefighters to the hotel’s second floor, where smoke was seen in the hallway.
The crew searched for the source and later found smoke coming from two electrical outlets in one of the guest rooms. Authorities pulled drywall and found a small fire that was extinguished with a water can.
Officials said the fire had not extended into any other rooms. The guests who were staying in the room where the fire happened were able to switch to a new room, and no one else had been displaced.
The department’s Fire Investigation Team has responded to further look into the cause of the fire.
