JANESVILLE, Wis. — Emergency crews are responding to a fatal plane crash near Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Rock County.
The crash was reported around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday in the town of Rock, according to dispatchers in Rock County.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is holding a media briefing at the airport at noon on Tuesday. Officials said the crash was fatal in a release sharing information about the media briefing.
The airport is located near Blackhawk Technical College. Jennifer Thompson, a spokeswoman for Blackhawk Tech, said she was informed that a small plane crashed near the airport, but did not have any other information. Thompson also said the school’s security team was not needed in the response to the crash.
Employees with the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport were unable to share information about the crash and directed questions to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
