MADISON, Wis. — Madison’s Parking Division is now using a new app that gives users the ability to pay for on-street parking straight from their smartphone.
The Park Smarter app, which is available on most smart devices, works for all of the city’s on-street parking meters and some off-street meters like coin-only motorcycle meters in garages.
“The Parking Division is excited to present a new payment application to the public that offers more flexibility for meter use citywide,” Parking Division Assistant Manager Sabrina Tolley said. “The Park Smarter app was developed to offer a convenient service to parkers that corrects some limitations of the previous mobile payment provider.”
Parking Division officials said the Park Smarter app is an easy-to-use replacement for the now out-of-business mobile payment app the city previously used for parking payment.
In addition to the new app, Parking Division officials announced they are nearly finished replacing old on-street pay stations with single-space smart meters that accept coin, Visa and MasterCard.
The Park Smarter app allows users to pay for all on-street meters, off-street smart meters, off-street coin only meters and most off-street pay stations (excluding the Evergreen and Wingra lots).
Users can check how much time they have left in their parking spot and add more time to the meter when needed.
