MADISON, Wis. — UW Health is reminding Wisconsin residents to continue wearing face coverings even after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.
The Centers for Disease Control recently announced that those who have been fully vaccinated may gather indoors without a mask, but should wear one in a hospital or public setting. Officials also said those who have been fully vaccinated should also still adhere to their local public health measures. A person becomes fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving their final dose.
UW Health doctors recommend wearing a mask when visiting a hospital or clinic for an appointment, going to the grocery store, visiting family outside your household or interacting with people outside of your “bubble.”
“We all want to end this pandemic as soon as possible, but until we are all fully vaccinated, we must treat the threat as very real for now,” said Dr. Jeff Pothof, the chief quality officer for UW Health. “Vaccines are the best tool we have to get us out of this mess, but the public health measures we all know about will help accelerate this process and hasten the end of this pandemic, especially wearing a mask.”
