DATELINE, Wis. — Authorities have ended their search for a missing Rock County hiker after they discovered a body in a lake Friday morning.
Kevin Doyle, 66, was reported missing on Wednesday evening after he left to go hiking at Storrs Lake Park with his two yellow Labrador retrievers, Holly and Frank. Doyle’s dogs were found dead in a lake Thursday afternoon.
Officials with the Rock County Sheriff’s Office used a drone to search the park for Doyle. Just after 11 a.m. Friday, the drone team spotted “an anomaly” in Bowers Lake. Roughly 45 minutes later, two divers with the sheriff’s office’s rescue team confirmed finding a body in the lake.
The divers then worked with the medical examiner to recover the body.
Authorities said the medical examiner will officially identify the body, but the search for Doyle is now considered closed.
