TOMAH, Wis. — Police arrested a man late Saturday night for six suspected offenses including attempted homicide and a third operating while intoxicated.
Officers from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call from an employee at a Wilton Main Street tavern just before midnight on Saturday.
According to the release, the caller reported that 52-year-old Curtis Goulet was involved with minor disturbances before retreating outside and taking a pistol from his truck and firing two shots.
Police reported to the scene outside of the tavern and began looking for Goulet who had fled.
Officers said that just after midnight a Wisconsin State Trooper on patrol located Goulet’s truck on State Highway 131. Goulet did not pull over for officers and continued to flee the officer’s pursuit driving north towards Tomah.
Officers followed him while Tomah Police deployed tire deflation devices. Goulet drove over the devices but continued to drive his truck away from officers.
According to police, Goulet arrived to his residence in Tomah where he was arrested without further incident.
Officers at the scene recovered shell casings from a 9mm pistol and found bullet impacts outside the tavern in Wilton. According to police the evidence matches witnesses statements.
Goulet was booked into Monroe county jail for attempted homicide, recklessly endangering safety, operating a firearm while intoxicated, third OWI offense, knowingly fleeing an officer and disorderly conduct.
