MADISON, Wis. — A deputy suffered minor injuries after he was hit by a man waiting to be booked into the Dane County Jail.
The incident happened shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, according to a release by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
Madison police arrested Mark A Goss, 33, for a probation and parole hold.
Police said Goss had a broken hand and was wearing a splint when he arrived to the booking area of the jail.
He allegedly slipped his hand out of the restraints and swung at a deputy passing by. The deputy suffered minor injuries after he was hit in the face, the release said.
Officials said a battery to law enforcement charge will be referred to the district attorney’s office.
The booking area of the jail was also temporarily shut down until 5:50 p.m.
Goss was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, the release said.
