QUINCY, Wis. — Two people are facing tentative child neglect and drug charges after police seized drugs from an Adams County home while executing a search warrant late last week.
Authorities with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a request Friday to conduct a welfare check on a juvenile. When deputies arrived at the residence, one of the residents gave them permission to walk through the home for the welfare check.
During their walk through, deputies spotted a green plant that was later identified as synthetic marijuana. An adult resident at the home identified it as such and admitted to using the substance.
Deputies subsequently contacted the Adams County Department of Health and Human Services. Deputies also requested and received a search warrant for the residence.
Authorities recovered methamphetamine, cocaine, synthetic marijuana, fentanyl during the search. Deputies also recovered drug paraphernalia. Officials said some of the drugs were found within reach of the children.
Two people were taken into custody following the search.
Joseph A. Donohue was arrested on tentative charges of child neglect, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of THC.
Haily N. Hyrkas was arrested on tentative charges of child neglect, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a prescription medication without a prescription.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Adams County Department of Health and Human Services and Lifestar Ambulance.
Authorities said their investigation is ongoing.
