MADISON, Wis. — Madison commuters who use the Beltline may have to find an alternate route starting next week as two interchanges shut down for construction.
The Todd Drive to eastbound Beltline and eastbound Beltline to southbound Fish Hatchery Road interchanges will close for three weeks starting Monday. They’ll reopen on April 19.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials said the closures and construction are weather dependent and could change.
The closures are part of a construction project aimed at improving inside median shoulders on the Beltline to use as a flex lane during peak traffic times between Whitney Way and the I-39/90 interchange.
The project is expected to wrap up in December with the flex lane likely opening up in late 2021 or early 2022.
