MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsinites will be able to visit nearly 600 individual pharmacies to get a COVID-19 vaccine starting this week.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced Tuesday seven new pharmacy partners will start getting vaccines from the federal government as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program this week. The new pharmacies include some Costco, CVS and Hy-Vee locations, in addition to the Good Neighbor and AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation, Health Mart, Medicine Shoppe and Cardinal Health, and Topco pharmacy networks.
“We are excited to expand this program in order to bring more vaccine to communities across the state,” said DHS Interim Secretary Karen Timberlake. “Our vaccine team and partners are committed to making the vaccine as accessible to everyone as possible. We urge everyone currently eligible to visit the DHS website to learn about how to schedule an appointment. And please remember that whether you are insured or not, the vaccine is free to everyone.”
Together, the 595 pharmacies will be able to order nearly 95,000 first doses of vaccine directly from the federal government. That’s in addition to the state’s total allocation that gets distributed to health care providers statewide.
According to a news release, CVS will start scheduling appointments Tuesday, and Costco will start scheduling appointments by Friday.
Anyone looking to sign up for a vaccine appointment can use DHS’ vaccine provider map to find a vaccine provider in their area.

A full list of individuals currently eligible for vaccination is available on DHS’ COVID-19 vaccine eligibility page. All Wisconsinites 16 and older are expected to be eligible for vaccination by May 1.
