MADISON, Wis. — More than 65,000 Wisconsin residents received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine within the past day, according to the state Department of Health Services.
Nearly 2.9 million doses have been administered throughout the state since December.
Health officials said 31.1% of Wisconsinites have gotten the first dose of the shot, which is a total of 1,810,361 residents. As of Thursday, 1,076,380 people, or 18.5% of the state’s population have fully completed the vaccine series. More than 120,000 people in Dane County are fully vaccinated.
The seven-day average percent positive by test saw a minor increase to 2.9% Thursday, though the average has remained below 3% for well over a month.
Wisconsin reported 517 new cases of the virus, which is slightly below Wednesday’s case count. That remains higher than the seven-day rolling average of 468. The state has reached an all-time total of 577,712 confirmed cases, and nearly 7,000 cases are active.
At least 6,625 have died of coronavirus complications since the start of the pandemic, with three new deaths recorded Thursday. In the past 24 hours, an additional 40 people have been hospitalized with the virus.
